This is a very feminine 1950s vintage necklace of baby-blue “moonstones” and sparkling aurora borealis rhinestones in a floral setting suspended from a delicate chain. The setting has three parts, linked together for flexibility and comfort. The moonstones are marquise-cut glass, set as “petals” in the centre and as “leaves” to either side, with the faintest hint of lavender in the blue. The rhinestones have a distinctly blue glint and are clustered into five-stone “flowers” with a run of rhinestones connecting to the chain.
The stones are prong set throughout and the metal is gold tone. Overall, this necklace is restrained by 1950s standards but has a “big look” nonetheless, with plenty of sparkle.
Dimensions: The front decorative section is 11.5 cm wide by 2.5 cm high at centre (4.5″ by 1″). Overall length is 41.5 cm (16.25″).
Marks: No maker’s or other marks.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition with only the slightest wear, on the back only.
