This is an early 1950s vintage gold-filled brooch with echos of the 1940s in the setting and a touch of ’50s glitz.
It features a mix of rhinestone-tipped ribbons, loops and sprays bursting out from a cluster of pink square-cut and smaller clear round-cut stones, all foil backed and prong set. The gold-fill gives the brooch a more expensive look and is a warmish but not artificial tone. It is fitted with an usually dainty rollover safety clasp.
It is 4.75 cm (just under 2″) across.
Stamped “M&S” - maker’s mark for the M. & S. Mfg. Co., Inc. of Providence, RI – and “1/20 12K GF“.
This 1950s brooch is in very good vintage condition. Some dark spots on the back (which might clean away) but very little wear to the front. The rhinestones are all present and unchipped and the clasp is in good working order.
