This is a lovely shimmering vintage green glass aurora borealis crystal necklace dating to the late 1950s, with plenty of sparkle but of a dainty size and colour that make it more wearable than most 1950s necklaces.
There are three shades of green in three shapes – long oval olivine crystals, small tubular lime green crystals and large deep green bi-conals with an aurora borealis coating. The long olivines have unusual spiral faceting down their lengths.
The crystals are wire-linked and end-to-end the necklace is 40.5 cm (16″) long – a little longer than choker length – closing with a simple brass bolt ring clasp.
This vintage crystal necklace is in very good vintage condition. The only damage noted is three small chips around three of the long crystal hole ends, not noticeable except on very close inspection. Otherwise the crystals are in excellent condition. The aurora borealis beads are only partially coated, which is the way they were made, not wear. Where applied, the coating is in good overall condition. The wire-links are dulled with age but not discoloured or corroded at all.
