This is a very dimensional vintage 1950s brooch of rich fuschia-pink rhinestones, reverse set with the points up.
It has a high centre stone surrounded by small black stones, then a lower circle of pinks insterpersed with black stones at the edge. The stones are unfoiled, open backed and very deep (a good 0.75 cm – 3/8″), all of which which gives them a liquidy sparkle with flashes of vibrant pink. The setting is a slightly-matte goldtone and tiered, fitted with a rollover safety clasp.
Dimensions
The brooch is just under 4 cm across (1.5″) and 1.75cm high (3/4″)
Marks
No maker’s or other mark.
Condition
This brooch is in good vintage condition with some slight damage – a chip at the very tip of the centre stone that is not very noticeable (it is still pointy) and a pin-head sized chip at the tip of one of the surrounding stones. One of the prongs is darkened but the rest of the goldtone is bright. The clasp works well, holding securely.
