This is a bright multi-coloured vintage glass necklace featuring a great variety of art glass beads – a type of necklace referred to as “end-of-day” necklaces because they seem to be made from whatever beads were left over at the end of the day.
There are too many colours, sizes and textures of beads to count. All glass, they are primarily bright primary colours with a few more muted shades mixed in, including wine-coloured and pearlescent beads.
Although it has a random appearance, each half of the necklace mirrors the other half, having the same beads arranged in the same order.
The necklace is long, measuring 105 cm (42″), but has a brass bolt-ring clasp so it can easily be worn as a double-strand necklace. It is difficult to date – probably constructed in the late 1960s/early 1970s though the beads may be much older.
It is in very good vintage condition with no damage and minimal wear – a very wearable piece of vintage jewellery with lots of personality. lots of personality.
