Vintage Art Deco Blue Crystal Necklace with Glass Chain
This is a unique baby blue vintage Art Deco crystal necklace with sections of glass crystal chain flanking a decorative front.
The glass chains have somehow been made one link at a time – the links are completely smooth with no “join lines.” The decorative front is made up of top quality crystal beads, heavily-facetted and finished with goldtone filigree bead caps.
Unusually, the back half of the necklace is also decorative with smaller crystal beads and filigree elements running up to a simple brass bolt ring clasp. Though the crystal beads and chains are baby blue there are flashes of cobalt where they are thicker or overlap.
The filigree elements are a gilded base (probably brass) metal. The necklace is 43 cm (17″) long and from the mix of quality crystals and filigree, most likely Czech.
The necklace is in good vintage condition with the only damage being a chip in one of the links, with what looks like a fracture line running from it. However, the link is not broken. Except right near the chip, the line is internal – not felt when a fingernail is run over it . Please note that although the links look very fragile they are actually strong and rigid – they could be missing a piece and the rest of the link would hold together just fine. The crystal beads are in excellent condition with crisp facets and virtually no scuffing or other wear. Though dulled, the filigree caps are not corroded and the clasp is in good working order. The necklace would benefit from a gentle clean – the insides of the links are somewhat dirty.
