A very striking vintage “pools of light” glass bead necklace, most likely originating in Czechoslovakia and dating to about 1930.
The beads are a remarkable colour. In the photos they appear “just blue” but they are a rich teal-blue, similar to kingfisher or cerulean blue, with flashes of cobalt.
The beads are handmade with slight variations in shape, and interesting striations and irregularities. They capture the light beautifully and range in size from just under 1 cm (0.4″) long at the front to just 0.5 cm (0.2″) at the back.
The necklace has been restrung at some time – it has a relatively modern gold-tone barrel clasp.
Dimensions
47 cm (18.5″) long with the clasp closed.
Marks
No maker’s or other marks.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition.
