This very pretty vintage German Art Deco ring features three tri-colour glass “rainbow” crystals set in 800 silver. It is unusual to find these rainbow crystals in a ring rather than brooch or necklace.
The crystals are clear and striped right through with ‘watery’ bands of fuschia pink, green and blue with a great sparkle as if they were foil-backed, but they are not. They are surrounded by dainty silver beading and prong-set in a raised gallery about 3 mm (1/8″) high, with decorative shanks.
Each crystal is 0.5 cm (3/16″) and overall the decorative section of the ring is 1.7 cm (11/16″) wide, spanning most of the finger.
The band is flat and quite thick with an inner diameter of 17 mm – equivalent to U.S. size 6 1/2 (British size N).
It is stamped “800” (a German silver standard) with the maker’s mark “AHB” in an oval. I have not been able to identify this maker.
Overall, this lovely Art Deco ring is in good vintage condition. The only issue is a surface chip on one of the end crystals, a little on its top edge and down the side, as if it was knocked/scraped against the nearby prong at some time, but it is generally not noticeable at all. The crystal remains bright and sparkly.
