This is a striking Mexican sterling silver vintage pendant-brooch by Garcia of Taxco with a daisy-like design of alternating “petals” of onyx and abalone. Accent circles at the centre and edge are filled with a deep-blue material resembling crushed lapis lazuli. It has a gently-domed shape which with the radiating silver work creates a nice play of light – the overall effect is smooth, glossy and reflective.
It is fitted with a pin as well as a sizeable bale, large enough to accommodate cords as well as chains. The silhouette Mexican eagle assay mark dates this Taxco silver pendant brooch to between c.1955 and the 1970s.
* The chain pictured below is for demonstration only (not included).
Dimensions: 4.5 cm (1.8″) in diameter
Marks: Garcia maker’s mark of “925” encircled by “A. GARCIA TAXCO MEX” and the eagle 3 Mexican assay mark for Taxco.
Condition: Very good vintage condition. A few natural flea bites in the abalone, but no cracks or damage.
